Michele Markstein

Michele is a postdoctoral fellow at Harvard Medical School studying transcription, position effects and insulators in Norbert Perrimon's lab. She developed the idea for Fly Enhancer and MERmaid while a graduate student in Chip Ferguson's lab at the University of Chicago and she guided the initial development of these programs while a visiting student in Mike Levine's lab at UC Berkeley. She co-founded Open Genomics to make Fly Enhancer and other bioinformatics tools accessible to the research community, and guides the design of the Genome Enhancer website and user interface. Michele can be reached at mmarksteinopengenomicsorg.
